We

create exciting children's stories about different cultures coming together.

Our stories help children understand complex topics that reflect differences among people of all ages, in various communities and families.

On this journey of discovery, our themes, processes and characters will inspire, educate, and entertain children with stories that bridge cultures, celebrate diversity, and promote understanding.

Our

first story is called “The Accent.”

“The Accent” is a heartwarming story that introduces us to Funke, the new girl in class, who hails from a diverse and distant land. At first, Caroline Smalling, a friendly and math-savvy 7-year-old is excited to meet the new girl. But as Caroline gets to know Funke, she’s puzzled by an unexpected twist – why does Funke refer to her as “Carorine“?

Set against the backdrop of a multicultural society, “The Accent” explores the intricate tapestry of cultural differences that often lead to feelings of insecurity and misunderstanding among children.

This is a great story with a strong message of acceptance and memorable characters. Never seen anything touching on having a different accent before like this. Nicely done.

As a parent to children in a multi-cultural environment I found this story incredibly enlightening. I've never thought about explaining accents in the way this story does, so straightforward yet so effective. My daughters resonated with the story as their names are also often mispronounced and now they have a clearer understanding of why that is.

Adebayo has taken an easily trivialised topic and treated it with such humility and depth; the result is this incredibly enjoyable and heart-warming book. It's a beautiful story that children and parents alike would love - I and my toddler certainly did.

This book is a great resource to explain to children the reasons other children from different countries speak or pronounce words as they do. It would be an excellent story to read when a new student from another country enters the classroom or moves to a new neighborhood. The two characters are fun and vibrant and the storyline is realistic! I highly recommend this beautiful book.

A true catalyst for nurturing empathy, understanding, and confidence in young minds, this book stands as an invaluable resource in an ever-diverse world. Kudos to baba funke and the Wafunkpublishing team.

Celebrating Diversity

It's a great book for children. It explains that coming from different backgrounds means we have different 'colourful' accents when we speak. This doesn't mean we cannot be friends, even if we struggle to understand the other person's accent. The book tells us to be patient with one another, and encourages us to ask for clarification in a friendly manner; without being offensive to the other person whose accent may be difficult to understand.

Quite interesting and topical a book. Written explicitly with the reader’s interest in mind. It’s very captivating and I enjoyed its contents, presentation and the graphics. I strongly recommend this book particularly to anyone who has got a child in that age group or is new to a different country from their origin. Also, to anyone who’s a broad reader, story teller and children’s teacher. I hope ‘The Accent’ gets the recognition it deserves!
